Pedestrian bridge over highway bypass I/26 at Pilsen - Nová Hospoda

PKD was asked to deliver a footbridge for pedestrians and cyclists over the highway bypass near Pilsen. The new footbridge connects two regions: Nová Hospoda and Borská Pole. The footbridge is fully barrier-free with spiral ramps. The main supporting element is a steel arc supporting intermediate bridge deck. The new footbridge for pedestrians and cyclists is 142m long, the width of the passing profile is 3m and it has an asphalt surface. The investor was the City of Pilsen - the Investment Department of the City of Pilsen. Period of realization of the entire project of bypass was between 2009 - 2012.

New pedestrian bridge over the river Jihlava

In 2014, PKD was the main contractor of steel structure of a new suspended footbridge across the Jihlava River. The pedestrian bridge is designed as a beam suspended on high-strength steel chain. The loads from the bridge to the foundations are transferred through the steel asymmetrical pylons anchored on the banks of the river. The entire structure is hot-dip galvanized. The maximum vertical load on the bridge deck is assumed 400 kg / m2.

The main bridge beam is simply supported. The beam is 34.1m long. A load test was carried out after the assembly of the structure. The simulated static load weighted 21 tons. The footbridge complied.

The whole structure has a complex and irregular shape and has many atypical details. The PKD thus fully complied with the wishes of the architect and successfully demonstrated that it is able to produce a wide range of steel structures.
